The History of Bob Hall
1933
At the repeal of prohibition, there is an explosion of activity as entrepreneurs rush to satisfy thirsty Americans. Robert Lee (Bob) Hall, Jr is one such enterprising hopeful, delivering from an old ice house with a single truck.
Bob Hall’s first brands are Senate and Old Georgetown, brewed by Heurich Brewing Company and Gunther.
1934
Bob Hall is among the first wholesalers in Maryland to be awarded the Budweiser brand.
1951
After his untimely death, Bob’s company passes to his son, Robert Hall III.
1961
Robert also dies at an early age and the company comes under the ownership of his wife – Evalina Hall-Mitchell.
Widow and mother of ten children, Evalina is a force to be reckoned with. Her refined, gentle exterior is backed by tremendous courage and sharp business acumen. Very few women hold leadership positions in business at this time, let alone the male-dominated beer industry distribution, but Evalina is undeterred. With Robert’s mother and sister assisting, Evalina quickly becomes president and leader of the company, as well as the first woman in Maryland to be CEO of a distributorship.
1989
Under Evalina Hall-Mitchell’s leadership, Bob Hall catches the eye of Anheuser-Busch for its high standards and remarkable efficiency, and subsequently wins their Gold Medal Award for Dimensions of Excellence for several years.
2017
After overseeing the company’s growth, securing its status as an Anheuser-Busch Ambassador, and endowing it with a culture of charitable giving, Evalina Hall-Mitchell steps down.
2023
Bob Hall Beverage celebrates its 90th anniversary!
2023
With a goal of “Going for the Gold” in 2023 the Bob Hall team achieves an incredible feat by winning highest distributor awards from both Anheuser-Busch and Constellation Brands in same year. “Taking home both of these top awards in same year is almost unachievable, but our ‘dream team’ made it happen with their focus, determination, planning, accountability and overall excellence 365 days a year over many years.”
